Janet Jackson - Control (Sophie Lloyd Edit)

An unashamedly 80's booty beauty from Sophie Lloyd. Janet Jackson never sounded so good! :)

Farley & Heller mix - Acid Ball 2nd Birthday

Best mix I've heard in ages. Terry Farley & Pete Heller at the top of their game smashing it at the recent Acid Ball 2nd Birthday at Dalston Superstore. Definitely worth a download.

RISQUÉ DISQEAU - Brussels Sat 24th October

Just on the off chance you fancy a trip to Brussels next Saturday (Nov 24th), you'll find me playing a few tunes alongside the legendary Spiritcatcher & Barcelona's finest export The Groovers. If you can't make it, appreciate the damn fine artwork Finn Campbell Notman has put together for the event, very cool indeed!

Public Service Broadcasting - Everest (Leftside Wobble Remix)

Something a little different from me this week. Whilst it's not aimed at the dancefloor I'm really proud of this mix. Lemon Jelly meets New Order is probably the best description I've heard. It's strictly promo only for the moment but will see a proper release at some point next year. You can buy the original version via the iTunes link and make sure to check out the video link too - which links to their previous single, Spitfire (another track that is due for an official Leftside Wobble remix at some point next year).

Public Service Broadcasting are a London-based duo whose main ingredients are: 1) J. Willgoose, Esq. on guitars, banjos, other stringed instruments, samplings, electronic things; 2) Wrigglesworth on drums, pianos and other electronic things.

Taking samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material, and mould them into 21st century songs.

Everest is based on the 1953 film 'The Conquest of Everest', which told the story of Hillary & Tensing successful ascent of the tallest mountain in the world, and which was directed by expedition member George Lowe.

The band have been getting major props from both 6 Music and XFM (amongst many others) and are preparing a major label album release for next year.

Detroit Swindle - Guess What (LW Remix Preview)

Preview of my forthcoming Detroit Swindle remix...

Thursday, 8 November 2012

Maverick Mix No.2 - Hamish Cole

Really lovely laid back mix from Butter Side Up's Hamish Cole. Quality toasty tunes, beginning to end...

Tuesday, 6 November 2012

Alice Russell - Heartbreaker

New single forthcoming from my favourite soul diva. And what a cool video too!

St Germain - Rose Rouge (Leftside Wobble Bump & Hustle Edit)

A personal edit that I'm releasing to celebrate the 6th Birthday of Big In Japan this month: (with a party featuring the legendary Daniel Wang and disco don Ray Mang).

This ones all about the rhythm track overdubs and subtle filtering. Sometimes an edit needs a very light touch and with a track so perfect this is certainly the case here.

Midnight Riot 3

The latest Midnight Riot compilation comes out today featuring cuts from a veritable who's who of the current boogie/disco scene -

Peter Kruder - Pink Floyd mix

Masters In France - Playin' With My Friends (Leftside Wobble Edit)

Thursday, 1 November 2012

11 Inch - Back To Back

Very seldom does a 4 track EP come along where each & every track blows me away. Definitely one of my favourite releases in a very long time:

Wednesday, 31 October 2012

Keith Le Blanc Sample Library - for free!

So not only was/is Keith Le Blanc one of the finest drummers of recent history (he, alongside Doug Wimbash & Skip McDonald formed the legendary rhythm section for Sugarhill Records) but he's now giving away over 20gb of his drum breaks and suchlike for nada, zilch, free as in beer! Get involved -

The back story behind Keith's decision to give his library away for free makes for interesting reading too -

Warehouse shenanigans in Sheffield

Forgot to mention how great Sheffield was on Saturday night. Proper warehouse shenanigans! I'm back at the same venue this Friday night for Jose Cuervo's final night in town before rolling on to Birmingham. And did I say how good the tequila based cocktails were!

So the festival season is finished and the dark autumnal evenings are drawing ever closer but summer's not over just yet; why not spend this weekend in Barcelona and pop in to see me DJ at Playtime this Friday (on what's reported to be Barcelona's finest sound system). Chris Duckenfield played at their last rocking event and reported back on a damn fine party so hopefully see one or two of you on the dance floor. x

Wednesday, 12 September 2012

Chris Duckenfield - Let's Go Conkering

Another brilliant mix from Chris Duckenfield doing the Acid Disco thing he does so well. If you need a bit of bounce in your day look no further... :)

Tuesday, 4 September 2012

My favourite cut off the forthcoming EP from Chicago's Josh Deep. Proper Chitown soulful edit business.

Gerd DJ Set at Berlin's Panorama Bar

Fantastic set from one of my favourite DJ's

Another raw soulful production from Stevie Kotey that nails that vintage detroit sound. So very good indeed!

Friday, 31 August 2012

The Egg - Woodstock 69

Probably my favourite track off the new 'The Egg' album. There's something very reminiscent of 'The Grid' about this one in the best possible way.

Greg Wilson at The Bunker in Brooklyn

If there's one Greg Wilson mix you're going to download this year make it this one. At close to four hours long this is the perfect "all back to mine" soundtrack for those times when you want the party to carry on just that little bit more...

Thursday, 30 August 2012

To coincide with Tusk's debut London set at Big In Japan (The Book Club) this Friday I've put together this showcase mix highlighting some of my favourite tracks released on the Tusk Wax family of labels over the last 12 months or so.

Judging by the quality of the labels releases so far, Tusk Wax's future looks very rosy indeed.

The Project Club - A Gypsy Trance
JockTalk - A Prom King
Fab Mayday - Avventura In Guinea
Piero - Umiliani - Le Ore (Suono Refunk)
Ejeca - Tetra (Repercolated)
Johnwaynes - Brotha
Ejeca - Pushed (Bicep Remix)
Missile Crisis - Solar
Fab Mayday - Mogollar
Maricopa - Interstate

LCD Soundsystem - Bye Bye Bayou (Research Remix)

Final freebie of the day is a sleazy remix of LCD Soundsystem's Bye Bye Bayou by Research (whose 'Day By Day' single is due for digital release in September).

Tom Petty - Learning To Fly (Flash Atkins Rework)

Free download No.2 of the day. Paper Recordings Flash Atkins reworks Tom Petty's 'Learning To Fly' into one those old school balearic/AOR guilty pleasures that make so much sense at the end of an evenings heavier dance floor tackle. Ace!

The Haggis Horns - The Traveller Part 2 (PBR Streetgang Mix)

One of my favourite remixes from last year which unfortunately didn't see an official release is being given away as a free download by the very talented chaps from PBR Streetgang. :)

Lucio Battisti - El Velero (Psychemagik Edit)

One of my favourite Italo tracks, expertly edited by the Psychemagik boys and given away as a free download. Get in say I...

Salsoul Orchestra - Double Action (Evil K'Neil Edit)

Neil Diablo takes his scalpel to the Salsoul Orchestra's Double Action and gives it away as a free download. And damn fine it is too.

Dead Rose Music Company - Your Kisses

Started the day yesterday with a Dead Rose Music Company remix of Bonar Bradberry so this seems apt this morning. This beauty which is part of the latest four tracker from Throne Of Blood (and includes tracks from Bicep & Midnight Magic too) goes in store on Monday. As ever with TOB vinyl get in quick...

Wednesday, 15 August 2012

Begin - Day Happens

Just when I'm thinking nothing has really excited me on SoundCloud this week I stumble across this balearic beauty.

Ian Dury - Wake Up & Make Love To Me (Leftside Wobble Rude Extension)

A personal Ian Dury favourite with extended pleasure especially for Notting Hill Carnival.

Party's of note over the next few weeks

Friday 17th August - Cheap Date @ The Notting Hill Arts Club
Sunday 26th August - Sancho Panza/Leftside Wobble Carnival after party -
Friday 31st August - Big In Japan @ The Book Club with Tusk Wax!

Friday, 10 August 2012

Viadrina - Better (Arto Mwambe Remix)

This track has been a real sleeper for me. Over the months the reaction it gets just gets bigger & bigger and it's now one of the highlight tracks in my sets - just wait for when the bass kicks in around the 2 min mark, you'll be hooked. Available now through the usual digital outlets and for those of a vinyl persuasion, in a few weeks via the ever excellent We Play House imprint.

Thursday, 9 August 2012

Cerrone - Love In C Major (Leftside Wobble Edit)

The last of my Cosmic Boogie releases lovingly remastered through my EMI console channel and Massive Passive EQ for extra analog goodness.

Party's of note over the next few weeks

Friday 17th August - Cheap Date @ The Notting Hill Arts Club
Sunday 26th August - Sancho Panza/Leftside Wobble Carnival after party -
Friday 31st August - Big In Japan @ The Book Club with Tusk Wax!

Late Night Tuff Guy - I Love Ya

Late Night Tuff Guy has picked a winner to rework here, picking Rufus & Chaka Khan's 1974 hit 'You Got The Love' - he's picked out the Zeppelin like guitar parts to riff on and by the time Chaka's vocals hit your hooked.

If you're trying to hunt down his releases, most of his stuff is vinyl only and on very short pressings - 300 or so. But his Discogs page is a good place to start - there's a bundle of dealers there selling his wares. :)

Wednesday, 8 August 2012

The Invisible - 'Wings' (Floating Points Remix)

Another one I intended to post about a few weeks back. Really stunning remix from Floating Points which you can download for free by clicking on the appropriate button on the player.

Leftside Wobble - Acid Soul Symphony

Party's of note over the next few weeks

Friday 17th August - Cheap Date @ The Notting Hill Arts Club
Sunday 26th August - Sancho Panza/Leftside Wobble Carnival after party -
Friday 31st August - Big In Japan @ The Book Club with Tusk Wax!

Snoop - Drop It (Boris Dlugosch bootleg)

This has been a bit of a revival track for me this summer having found the original bootleg pressing at the bottom of a discarded pile vinyl in my loft. I'm only going to keep this available for a week so grab it whilst you can.

Claws For? - Profumo

Absolutely amazing deep house gem from one of my favourite British imprints Don't Be Afraid. Very limited 10" supply in store now - be quick though...

Disco Tech - Funky Hero's (Vol. 2)

I must admit I'm getting a tad bored with the majority of lowest common denominator edit EP's that have been clogging up the Juno charts for the last couple of years but Sweden's Disco Tech always delivers especially with his more downtempo numbers and especially on his disco-fied reggae edits. Quality stuff.

Bo Saris - She's On Fire (Maya Jane Coles Remix)

Just realised this beauty get's it's download release today. A lesson in how to take a slightly cheesy Amy Winehouse-alike and turn it into gold. That Bo Saris has a damn fine voice too...

Chicago Damn - Be Your Man

It's reached that time of year when I start digging through the collection those perfect Carnival gems and Chicago Damn's 'Be Your Man' fits the bill perfectly. Still my favourite Chicago Damn production.

Tickets & details for this years Sancho Panza/Leftside Wobble carnival after party featuring the Crazy P Soundsystem available here -

Thursday, 2 August 2012

Sasse - Eagle Eyes

I've been a long time fan of Sasse, and they recently released a Chicago flavoured new album which contains this gem. Shades of Mr Fingers on this one in all the right ways. Ace!

Thursday, 19 July 2012

Gredits - Sister Peak

One of the classier edits doing the rounds at the moment.

Wednesday, 18 July 2012

Local Zero - Bleedin' Out Mix

Really lovely selection from Brighton's Local Zero - perfect medicine to get you through yet another grey day...

Tuesday, 17 July 2012

Disco Charge (preview from forthcoming album)

A little taster from my forthcoming album which I hope to get out after the summer. This ones very much taking it's cues from early nineties breakbeat driven house, the sort of stuff being released by the the likes of William Orbit's Guerilla Records in their early days.
If the demands there I'll probably sneak a limited vinyl release out ahead of the album over the summer months.
Quick reminder about the Boondoggle party at the Electric Social in Brixton this Saturday where I'm DJing alongside Electric Boogie from ISM Records & Pink Lloyd - - And if you've made it all the way to Brixton on Saturday stick around for the On The Roof party on the Sunday with Norman Jay and my Carnival cohorts Sancho Panza. A little piece of West London magic bang in the heart of Brixton!

Odyssey - Easy Come, Easy Go (Leftside Wobble Edit) Boondoggle Brixton Remaster

It seems that every time I appear in Brixton I remaster something from the back catalogue for free download. Boondoggle happens next Saturday (21st July) at the Electric Social in Brixton. Further details -

Enjoy. x

Paper Gems & Acid Soul 8

I've been a bit slack of late in keeping the blog up to date as most people grab my stuff directly from SoundCloud these days. So in the coming weeks I'll be updating the blog to make it the central focus again. But to kick things off here's a couple of recent mixes (I'll be posting all of the edits missing from here before the end of the week).

Atlantic Conveyor - Nasty Things

It's been a while since I've posted any of my edits here so make sure to check out my SoundCloud page for any you might have missed - - there's a whole bunch of bits I've posted since Xmas.

This new edit's a jack'd up version of the Atlantic Conveyor classic 'Nasty Things'. Originally released back in 2004, hunt down the vinyl for the original mix, plus three other killer tracks -
